[APPEL À CANDIDATURES]
Livres des deux rives – Literary translation awareness workshop. APPLY UNTIL OCTOBER 23! Funded by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, Livres des deux rives has been managed since 2021 by the French Institute, with the aim of bringing together the book sectors in the Mediterranean and supporting translation flows between the Arabic and French. After phase 1 (2021-2023) focused on editorial exchanges between France and the Maghreb, the project opens to Lebanon and Egypt. Following on from the 6 workshops held between 2021 and 2023, the French Institute and ATLAS.CITL are relaunching this format, intended for students interested in literary translation, or for translators at the very beginning of their professionalization. The first workshop, dedicated to the translation from Arabic into French, will be held in Arles from December 4 to 7, 2024. For three and a half days, participants will work in the company of the Egyptian author Walid Taher and the translator Sarah Rolfo on extracts from the author’s texts, in order to practice the art of translation and discover its linguistic and cultural issues. 👉 Prerequisites: • Studies or professional experience in one of the fields targeted in the call • French as a mother tongue • Demonstrated mastery of the Arabic language 👉 Download the call for projects: (link in bio on @if_officiel) https:/ /www.institutfrancais.com/sites/default/files/medias/documents/AC_L2R_Dec24_v2.pdf The selection committee will take place at the beginning of November. 📸 International College of Literary Translators (CITL) of the Atlas association in Arles © Thomas Melograna @if_officiel @iftunisie @ifalgerie @ifmaroc @institutfrancais_egypte
