The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, announced that the number of civilian deaths in the Sudan war in 2025 was more than double what it was, with 11,300 people killed, in addition to the missing and unidentified bodies.
Turk said in Geneva that the year 2025 witnessed “a more than two-and-a-half-fold increase in the number of civilians killed compared to the previous year,” without counting the missing and unidentified bodies, holding the Rapid Support Forces, the army, and their “foreign sponsors” responsible for this.
