Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri issued a statement in which he mourned the martyrdom of His Eminence Imam Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei. The obituary statement stated:
“In the Name of God, the Most Merciful” Indeed, God has purchased from the believers their lives and their possessions that Paradise will be theirs. They fight in the cause of God, and they are killed. And they will kill a promise that is incumbent upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur’an. And who is more faithful to his covenant than God? So rejoice in the pledge with which you have pledged your pledge. And that is the great victory. God Almighty has spoken the truth.
In the month of God, and just like his grandfathers “Ali” and “Al-Hussein,” peace be upon them, a descendant of the pure prophetic family, he goes to God Almighty, fasting as a martyr between the prayer niche and the recitation of the Qur’an and the fields of jihad, work, steadfastness and certainty, and speaking the word of truth in the face of an unjust ruler, proud souls, lest obedience to meanness affect the wrestler of the honorable, is an extension to infinity of that approach. The authentic Muhammadi and the firmly established humanistic Hussein school, where are the mountains, are some of these qualities and values, and one of those lofty peaks is His Eminence the Imam, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, may God Almighty be pleased with him. We mourn him to the nation and all the free people of the world and the rational authorities in the east and west of the earth. We mourn him as an imam, authority, guide, and leader who is a true Mujahid. What God covenanted, he fulfilled his promise and did not change it. We mourn him as a great and lofty martyr. The nation became proud of him and strengthened its support. The most honorable death is the killing of martyrdom.
President Berri concluded the obituary statement: “In the face of this great loss and journey, we offer our deepest condolences and blessings to the friendly Iranian people, to the family of the late martyr, his sons, all his followers, to our great authorities, and to the Iranian leadership, asking the Almighty Lord to rest in His vast mercy and to rest in peace next to the saints, martyrs, friends, and good companions. We belong to God and to Him we shall return.”
