A member of the Presidency of the Amal Movement, Dr. Khalil Hamdan said that the Amal Movement’s position on negotiations with the enemy…and the Zionist…is no longer a secret to anyone, stressing that the movement expressed this position clearly through statements it issued recently, in addition to what was announced more than once by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Nabih Berri. He pointed out that the political literature of Amal Movement officials stresses the necessity of adhering to Resolution 1701 and the work of the Mechanisms Committee, despite its shortcomings, considering that calling for direct negotiations with the enemy…and the Zionist…before a ceasefire, as some Lebanese officials called for, constitutes going into the unknown, wondering: How can we abandon a resolution issued by the United Nations and go to discussions under fire, while the enemy…and its attacks on our people continue?
In an interview with Al-Resala Radio, Hamdan believed that adhering to Resolution 1701 issued by the United Nations remains the basis, stressing that a ceasefire is the necessary condition for any negotiation, because it is not possible to accept negotiation under fire, and there is no justification for that. He pointed out that there is much evidence of the arrogance of the Zionist enemy and its disregard for public opinion, citing the attacks on the city of Beirut on Wednesday, April 8, which left more than 300 martyrs and more than a thousand wounded, and the attacks that followed, leading to the targeting of the official headquarters of the Lebanese state, as happened in Nabatieh, where the government palace was bombed, considering that a clear indication of the intentions of the Zionist enemy. The enemy..and.
Hamdan pointed out that there are those who applaud these attacks with the aim of burdening the resistance with more burdens, stressing that the aggression against the Serail in Nabatieh and the attacks extending from the south to the Western Bekaa, Baalbek and Beirut indicate the enemy’s efforts to impose negotiations under fire. He stressed that the wise position is to adhere to Resolution 1701 and stop the Israeli attacks, the enemy’s withdrawal from the occupied Lebanese territories, and the return of the prisoners, allowing the state and the resistance space to develop a vision for the next stage after the liberation of the land, stressing the unity of the position of the national duo, and that no rational person can justify attacking the resistance in light of the continued occupation and attacks.
Hamdan reaffirmed adherence to national unity as a basic condition, which is one of the intellectual and practical foundations laid by the late Imam, Mr. Musa al-Sadr, and confirmed by President Nabih Berri, and which the Amal Movement is constantly working on. He warned against exploiting the issue of the displaced as a pressure card, stressing that the displaced who left their homes in defense of their land and dignity must be dealt with as free people who have the credit for protecting the homeland, not as beggars. He stressed his adherence to civil peace and his refusal to use the displaced as a blackmail card or to pressure the resistance…and Lebanon in general.
Hamdan considered that the direct negotiations that were recently approved represent a move into the unknown, and require more care and study, stressing that Resolution 1701 cannot be neglected in favor of a direct negotiating path that may lead to worse results. He said that there is a regional war going on, and it is illogical to hand over the cards to the United States of America and the enemy…the Israeli enemy, in negotiations conducted under American auspices as a neutral party.
Hamdan concluded by confirming that there is no ambiguity in the position of the movement that adheres to Resolution 1701 and rejects any option that leads to the unknown, and he addressed a respectful greeting to the martyrs…the Mujahideen, the Mujahideen in the Civil Defense teams in the Islamic Message Scouts, and all the paramedics throughout Lebanese territory, and to the innocents who fell in Beirut and who are still exposed to Israeli terrorism.
