The demolitions came after Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz called for the destruction of “all homes” in border villages “according to the model used in Rafah and Beit Hanoun in Gaza.”
The army destroyed 90% of the homes in Rafah, south of Gaza.
This method of widespread destruction of homes in Gaza has been described as “housing annihilation” by academics, and is an approach used to systematically destroy and damage civilian housing, rendering entire areas uninhabitable, according to what the Guardian described.
