The Israeli newspaper “Maariv” acknowledged that “Israel’s situation is worse than it was before “Assad’s Roar” on all fronts.”

The newspaper said: “Things must start from the end: Starting from now, Israel is in a less good place than it was supposed to be in. It is in a less good position in everything related to Lebanon and Gaza than it was on February 27 of this year.”

She stressed that “US President Donald Trump’s contradictory statements confuse army officers: This is a very complicated situation. You do not know where we are going and what the direction is.”

It quoted an Israeli army officer as saying: “You read a post from him that he is heading towards an offensive line, and two minutes later you hear him in an interview saying the exact opposite. This is a very complicated situation. You do not know where you are going and what the direction is.”

She pointed out that “there are restrictions imposed on the Israeli army by the political level. The government of Israel is not the one currently making decisions regarding the shooting policy in Lebanon, but rather the White House in Washington.”

The newspaper indicated that recent days have witnessed a dramatic change in the security situation in the three arenas (Iran, Lebanon, and Yemen).

She added: “The security and military establishment notes that Hamas in Gaza is increasing its activity against the Israeli army at the “yellow line,” and in parallel it is working at a rapid pace to regain its control over the land.”

She pointed out that estimates in Israel are that the question is not whether the fighting will be renewed, but rather when and on what scale.

She added sarcastically: “The question is to what extent Trump will allow this, who has not yet decided what he really wants.”
