European Union foreign affairs spokesman Anwar al-Anouni said on Tuesday that the bloc had contacted Israel about allowing a Russian ship that was carrying what Ukraine described as grains stolen from it, to dock in the Israeli port of Haifa.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Ssibha stated that the ministry summoned the Israeli ambassador because of what he described as Israel’s inaction and its permission to receive grain shipments coming from Ukrainian territory occupied by Russia.
Al-Anouni said in response to a request to comment on the situation, “We denounce all measures that help finance Russia’s illegal war effort and circumvent European Union sanctions, and we remain ready to target such measures by including individuals and entities in third countries (on sanctions lists) if necessary.”
