President Joseph Aoun renewed his demand for Lebanon’s assistance in determining the fate of Lebanese prisoners in occupation prisons, pointing at the same time to the ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire.
During his meeting with the delegation of the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent, Aoun renewed the call to “help Lebanon know the fate of the Lebanese prisoners in Israeli prisons, and Israel has so far refused to allow the International Committee of the Red Cross to communicate with them, check on their health, and reassure their families and the Lebanese state.”
He considered that “Israel must be pressured to stop targeting civilians and health teams,” noting that “Israeli violations continue in the south despite the announcement of a ceasefire, as well as the demolition and bulldozing of homes and places of worship, while the number of victims and wounded is rising day after day.”
He added: “The attacks do not exclude paramedics and volunteers, of whom about 17 paramedics from the Lebanese Red Cross and other humanitarian organizations have been killed so far, in addition to targeting media professionals.”
Aoun pointed out that “what the volunteers do to rescue the injured is an act that constitutes the pinnacle of sacrifice and self-giving for the sake of the humanitarian message in which they believed, up to the point of martyrdom, even though the rescue missions they undertake are notified in advance to ensure the necessary protection for them.”
