Today, the US Central Command (Centcom) announced the interception of two Iranian ballistic missiles that were targeting American forces stationed in Kuwait, confirming that they were shot down without recording any injuries or damage to the ranks of the American military.
“Centcom” explained in a statement published on the “X” platform that the interception operation took place at 11 pm East Coast time in the United States, noting that all members of the American forces are safe and did not suffer any harm as a result of the attack.
The Central Command confirmed that its forces are still on high alert, and will continue to take the necessary measures to protect its members from any Iranian threats or attacks, in parallel with supporting the ceasefire that has been in effect between the two sides since the eighth of last April.
This development comes after the US Army announced the implementation of a series of strikes that it described as “defensive” during the past two days in southern Iran, which is the third in about a week.
The Central Command said that the strikes targeted radar and drone control systems in the Ghoruk and Qeshm regions in the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that the operations came in response to what it considered Iranian hostile actions, including the downing of an American drone that was flying over international waters.
On the other hand, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced that its forces targeted a base used by the American army to launch attacks against Iran, without revealing its location.
The Kuwaiti army also announced earlier that it had repelled an attack with missiles and drones, according to what was reported by Agence France-Presse.
These developments come in light of the continuing tension between Washington and Tehran despite the ceasefire being in effect, in conjunction with the continuation of negotiations aimed at reaching an agreement to end the war, and the continuation of tension in the Strait of Hormuz, through which a large portion of global energy supplies passes.
