The former head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, and the current president, MP Taymour Jumblatt, met with the French presidential envoy to Lebanon, Jean-Yves Le Drian, during a dinner held in their honor at the French embassy in Beirut, in the presence of a member of the “Democratic Gathering”, MP Wael Abu Faour, and the French ambassador to Lebanon, Herve Magro.
The parties stressed the need to fully adhere to the ceasefire, Israeli withdrawal from all Lebanese territories, and ensuring the return of the people of the south to their towns and villages in safety and dignity.
The attendees stressed the need for the Lebanese state to fulfill its duties towards the displaced by establishing decent shelter centers, which contributes to providing appropriate conditions for the launch of the next academic year and ensuring the students’ right to education.
Jumblatt and the party head also expressed their appreciation for the French role in supporting Lebanon, and thanked France for its continued efforts in supporting Lebanon’s internal stability and strengthening the unity of its people and institutions.
