Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nabih Berri, received at the headquarters of the Second Presidency in Ain al-Tineh a ministerial delegation from Qatar, France, and Britain, which included the Minister of State for International Cooperation in the State of Qatar, Dr. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misned, the Minister Delegate for Francophonie Affairs, International Partnerships, and the French Abroad, Eleonore Caroix, and the Secretary of State for International Development in Britain, Jennifer Chapman, in the presence of the Ambassadors of Qatar, Britain, and France to Lebanon, Sheikh Saud bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, Hamish Cowell, and Hervé Magro, where the meeting discussed the developments of the situation in Lebanon and the region and the repercussions resulting from the Israeli war on Lebanon at various levels, especially the humanitarian, social, health, and economic issues, the file of the displaced, and how to support and assist Lebanon in approaching these challenges.
Speaker Berri also received former Minister of Education, Judge Abbas Al-Halabi.
In the afternoon, the Speaker of the Parliament followed up on political and field developments and developments in the situation in Lebanon and national affairs during his meeting with former Minister and Head of the Lebanese Democratic Party, Talal Arslan, in the presence of the party’s Political Council member, former Minister Saleh Al-Gharib.
After the meeting, Minister Arslan spoke, saying: It was necessary to visit Prime Minister Nabih Berri, and to thank him for his careful keeping up with and approach to everything that happened in the region, and the repercussions of what happened in the region on us as Lebanese.
He added: We thanked the great role that Pakistan played in standing by Lebanon, and in the agreement document that occurred between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and its positive impact on us as Lebanese in the face of all the tragedies, scourges, destruction and displacement that Lebanon was exposed to at all levels. We also thanked all the countries that contributed to reaching this agreement (the understanding agreement), led by the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and all Whoever contributed to this agreement, we also thanked the insistence, affirmation and adherence of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in all that this word means, to Lebanon’s position and the reflection of this agreement to include Lebanon in its first clauses. This is something that we will not forget as Lebanese, because this will undoubtedly contribute effectively and fundamentally to the liberation of Lebanese lands, reconstruction, the return of prisoners, and the return of the displaced to their villages, towns and cities.
Arslan continued: We hope that the Lebanese government and the Lebanese state will carefully read the first clause or paragraph of this agreement, and exploit and invest in this paragraph and build on it to start again to reconsider all of the previous improvised positions that would have exposed the country to further disintegration, division, and weakness in the face of the Israeli enemy.
Arslan added: This is a historic opportunity that we, as Lebanese, must exploit and invest in, and all of us go out united to liberate the land, liberate every inch of Lebanon’s land, return the displaced, and reconstruct the southern and suburban areas. I also cannot help but extend my deepest greetings to every southerner who has endured all these tragedies to which he was directly exposed, and to which all of Lebanon has been exposed, and on the strength of their resolve, determination, and adherence to every inch of Lebanese territory and the land of the south. Dear.
Arslan continued: The scene that we witnessed in recent days, with thousands of people marching and heading to inspect their homes, livelihoods, and properties despite all the threats and dangers, is something that we cannot help but highly appreciate and indicates the steadfastness and adherence to every meter of Lebanese land and the absolute conviction to hold on to the land in the face of everyone who tries to attack Lebanon, its wealth, its land, and its people.
He added: The point that we must all pay attention to today, and which I have always focused on and will continue to focus on, is adhering to internal unity in Lebanon, and not allowing anyone to play with the issue of cohesion among the Lebanese and coexistence among them. We appreciate all countries and everyone who contributed with us, but we have a collective responsibility in the country to protect every achievement that has been achieved, and to protect each other as Lebanese if we truly want to exploit every “door of light” that comes to us to get rid of this nightmare that Lebanon has gone through.
This country is for everyone, and we must all bear our greatest responsibility in protecting its unity, its land, its people and its institutions.
