Aoun: The Israeli escalation targets all attempts to stabilize the ceasefire

The President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, condemned the ongoing Israeli escalation in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa, considering that the expansion of attacks and the fall of more martyrs and destruction constitute a “dangerous and condemnable escalation.”

Aoun said, in a statement, “What we are witnessing today in the south and the Bekaa, in terms of the expansion of Israeli attacks and more killing and destruction, constitutes a dangerous and condemnable escalation, especially since it has affected dozens of innocent people, including women and children, and targets practically all ongoing attempts to establish a ceasefire and end the war, especially after the recent developments that took place between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

He added: “This will not prevent us from working to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire as quickly as possible, and this is what I recommended to the Lebanese negotiating delegation in the next round in Washington. This issue cannot be tolerated because a comprehensive ceasefire is the gateway to discussing other issues, the most important of which are the Israeli withdrawal, the army’s deployment, and the return of prisoners.”

Today, southern Lebanon and the Bekaa witnessed a massive Israeli escalation that included dozens of air strikes, artillery shelling, and drone attacks, which led to martyrs and wounded.
