Long before burger joints took over Beirut, there was one spot that reigned supreme.
For those who know, Meats&Bread It was the burger joint and smokehouse that defined Beirut, and it’s keeping traditions alive after its big move to Zero4 in Naccache.
Like countless businesses after the port blast, Meats&Bread was forced to shut down the beloved Gemmayze location putting one of the city’s favorite burger spots on hold for years before it reopened again.
In fact, it was one of those places our team loved dearly. We actually reviewed the place many years ago, trying their iconic WTF Burger and Flapping Wings:
We picked out a few must-tries from their menu. Depending on your mood, this is what you should order:
If you’re feeling a little messy — We recommend going for the classics: the WTF Burger with extra sauce and a side of Flapping Wings. Whether you’ve never tried it before, or you’re an OG that misses the taste of their iconic bites, then this is the way to go.
If you’re sharing with friends — The nachos cholo, empanaditas, elotes and kale, and the garlic parmesan wings will never disappoint. Easy-to-share bites that are perfect for grazing, chatting, and taking your time between rounds.
If you’re on a first date (and want to hold off on the food coma) — Pair their smoked labne baladi salad with the chopped brisket, then finish it off with a soft serve.

If you’ve visited this spot before, you’ll notice that it strayed true to its roots. The only difference is the location, but the food and feel-good vibes are all the same.

Every time we return to a local spot, we’re supporting more than just a restaurant. Many businesses across Lebanon have had to rebuild, so it’s necessary that we show them some love.
