On the sidelines of his pastoral visit to Paris, the Greek Melkite Catholic Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Youssef Al-Absi, met with the Lebanese Ambassador to France, Rabih Al-Shaer, in the Patriarchal Salon in the French capital, in the presence of the Parish Priest of Saint-Julien, Father Nadim Haddad, the General Curator Antoine Char, the Media Advisor Antoine Hayek, and Roland Hajjar.
During the meeting, the general conditions and challenges facing Lebanon at this delicate stage were discussed, in light of the intertwining of regional and international files and conflicts of interests, which calls for quick and responsible moves to contain crises and maintain stability.
Ambassador Al-Shaer also touched on “the conditions of the Lebanese community in France, and the challenges facing its members, in addition to the role it plays in strengthening Lebanese-French relations.”
For his part, Al-Absi stressed that “Lebanon, the state, is at risk of collapse if everyone does not initiate an honest and transparent national dialogue, far from preconditions and artificial obstacles,” stressing that “Lebanon has historically been based on dialogue between its political components and on its unique social fabric, which constitutes a distinctive mark of this country.”
