A video posted by Mohamad Khazaal, @mk_guide On TikTok, showed a group of displaced children taking part in a cleanup effort in BIEL, helping collect waste and restore the space.
The video, which amassed over 350,000 views, captures the children working together to collect litter across the area, moving through the space in small groups and actively taking part in the cleanup. He also introduced a small incentive, saying the person who collects the most trash would receive a reward of $10, while all the children would still get to spend time playing at a nearby playground afterwards.

In the wake of continued airstrikes and destruction across the country, many displaced families who fled Beirut’s southern suburbs and South Lebanon have since set up tents around the city, including in the BIEL area. Not only has Mohamad been engaging with children in the area, he has been supporting the displaced with relief efforts and ensuring that essential aid reaches as many families as possible.
The initiative, while small in scale, reflects ongoing grassroots efforts by individuals and volunteers responding to the needs of displaced communities on the ground.
