Egyptian actor Abdel Rahman Abu Zahra has died at the age of 92


The family of Egyptian actor Abdel Rahman Abu Zahra said that he died today, Monday, at the age of 92, after spending the past few weeks under intensive medical care due to geriatric diseases.

His son, Ahmed Abu Zahra, wrote on Facebook a comment accompanied by a picture of the late artist, in which he said, “His pure soul ascended to heaven. He who taught me that religion deals with people and not just appearances died. He who taught me that speaking the word of truth is a sword on the neck, no matter the consequences, and that honor, honesty, honesty, and diligence are the characteristics of an honorable person, no matter the challenges and no matter how time is against him.”

He added, “The artist fighting for value and morals died. He lived his entire life elevating the great values ​​of humanity in all his artistic works. The father, the back, the support, the teacher, and the role model died.”

Minister of Culture Jihan Zaki also mourned him in a statement in which she said that the deceased “was a true son of the Egyptian theatre, and one of its prominent symbols, as his name was associated with the National Theater and he presented immortal works on its stage that contributed to enriching the cultural and artistic movement,” stressing that his departure “represents a great loss to the cultural and artistic arena, because of his unique talent and high human and artistic presence.”

Abu Zahra was born in 1934 in the coastal governorate of Damietta to a middle-class family. He moved to Cairo with his father, who worked as an Arabic language teacher and died early. His passion for acting began in the school theater, from which he won his first artistic award, and then he joined the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts.

He presented dozens of plays with the National Theater, including (The Case), (Al-Mahrousa), (Al-Farafeer), (Al-Sabansa), (Bilad Barra), (The Barber of Baghdad), (The Sultan’s Game), and (Qarib and Gharib).

He participated in hundreds of television series, including (Al-Wasiya), (Al-Tariq), (Al-Zaini Barakat), (Omar bin Abdul Aziz), (Awan Al-Ward), (Agent 1001), (Shadow of the Warrior), (Abed Kerman), and (Farah Laila), in addition to dramatic evenings and radio series.

He made a special mark in television drama as Hajj Ibrahim Sardinah in the series (I Will Not Live in My Father’s Robe), based on the story of writer Ihsan Abdel Quddus, starring Nour El Sherif, Abla Kamel, and Mustafa Metwally.

In cinema, he presented the films (The Well of Deprivation), (The Back Streets), (The Truth is Called Salem), (The Curse), (Land of Fear), (Girls’ Love), (Al Jazeera), (Industrial Divorce), (Fantasy of Death), and others.

He cared a lot about children, presenting them with series and programs, including (Land of Happiness), (Once Upon a Time), and (The Most Beautiful Flowers), and he participated in voice performances in international animated films for Disney.
