The head of the “Change Movement,” Elie Mahfoud, wrote through his account on the “X” platform: “Lebanon is not a belt for Israel and is not an advanced base for an Iranian project. And every approach based on sacrificing part of sovereignty to address another part is not a solution but rather a disguised surrender.”
The issue is not transferring the militia from the south to the interior, but rather ending the reality of the militia itself. It is not drawing new lines on the map, but rather redrawing authority so that there is no security or military reference remaining on Lebanese soil above or alongside the state. Sovereignty does not accept partnership, and the state cannot tolerate a partner in arms.
Therefore, any project that keeps the occupation in place or keeps the militia in place is a project that directly collides with the idea of a state Lebanon. Our battle is clear: to restore the entire territory, to restore the complete decision-making process, and to restore the state’s complete monopoly of force over the entire Lebanese territory.”
