Mr. Ali Fadlallah considered that the agreement with the Israeli enemy was not consistent with Lebanon’s rights to its land and sovereignty, calling for it to be withdrawn because it gives the occupation the legitimacy to remain on parts of Lebanese territory.

Fadlallah said in a statement, “The agreement with the enemy came in contradiction to what was imposed by Lebanon’s right to its land, its sovereignty, and the dignity of its human being. Those who had the right to decide should have focused their efforts, from the first moment, on restoring the entire Lebanese territory from under the yoke of occupation, and for that purpose they should have benefited from all the positions of power and strength available to Lebanon, in a way that ensures the return of those who were forced to flee their land to their villages and towns as generous and dear people.”

He added: “If the agreement does not achieve this goal, then at least nothing is signed that gives the enemy, even directly or indirectly, the legitimacy to remain in precious parts of this nation’s land.”

Fadlallah believed that “this agreement makes Lebanon’s right to its land and sovereignty a subject of negotiation or postponement, and affects the right of the Lebanese to pursue the occupation and prosecute it for its crimes and perpetrations before international forums.”

He added: “Preserving this country and the dignity of its human being does not come about by giving the enemy a certificate of innocence of its crimes and aggression, nor by establishing its occupation under any pretext, but rather by adhering to the rights preserved by blood and established by sacrifices in history and the present.”

He continued: “This land was not preserved by ink on paper, but by the patience of its people, the steadfastness of its resistors, the sacrifices of its army, and the blood of its people. Whoever does not have these sacrifices cannot give up their fruits.”

He stressed that “any agreement that neglects Lebanese rights or leads to a wide internal rift is an agreement that cannot be accepted and must be undone, and this is what we warned about when we called on everyone to be aware and not to fall into the trap that the Lebanese are intended to fall into.”

Tighten the indoor unit

Fadlallah concluded by saying: “We are confident that the Lebanese will miss the opportunity to confront this enemy by strengthening their internal unity and coming together on a common word that preserves rights and does not abandon the elements of force.”
He added: “Internal unity was and will remain the guarantee of this country’s strength and its safety valve in the face of internal and external challenges.”
