Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced on Wednesday that Intelligence Minister Ismail Khatib was martyred in an American-Israeli aggression yesterday.
In a post on the “X” platform, Pezeshkian mourned a number of Iranian officials who committed assassinations, expressing his deep sorrow for their loss.
Pezeshkian said, “The treacherous assassination saddened us with our dear colleagues Ismail Khatib, Ali Larijani, and Aziz Nasir Zadeh, along with a number of their family members and the team accompanying them.”
The Iranian President offered his deepest condolences to the Iranian people over the martyrdom of two members of the government, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, and a number of military and tactical leaders, stressing his confidence that “their approach will continue with greater force than before.”
Mr. Ismail Khatib has served as Iran’s Minister of Intelligence since 2021. He is a cleric and security official with long experience in security and judicial institutions.
He also held several positions before that, most notably heading the Information Protection Center in the judiciary and working in various security agencies, which gave him extensive experience in the fields of intelligence and internal security.
On the first day of the joint aggression against Iran on February 28, Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasir Zadeh rose with the nation’s martyred leader, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, and a number of military leaders.
