Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nabih Berri, received at the headquarters of the Second Presidency in Ain al-Tineh, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Barham Salih, and the accompanying delegation, which included the Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Rima Jamous Amsis, the United Nations Resident Coordinator and the Humanitarian Coordinator in Lebanon, Omran Riza, the representative of UNHCR in Lebanon, Carolina Billing, in the presence of the media advisor to President Berri Ali Hamdan, where they discussed the general situation in Lebanon and current developments in light of Israel’s continued Its aggression against Lebanon and the United Nations programs in approaching the refugee issue.
Speaker Berri also followed developments in the general situation in Lebanon, political and field developments, the file of the displaced, and national affairs during his meeting with the head of the Progressive Socialist Party and head of the parliamentary Democratic Meeting Bloc, Representative Taymour Jumblatt, at the head of a delegation from the bloc’s representatives and the leadership of the Progressive Socialist Party. The representatives included: Hadi Abu Al-Hassan, Marwan Hamadeh, Akram Al-Shuhaib, Faisal Al-Sayegh, Raji Saad, Bilal Abdullah, and Wael Abu Faour, advisor to party leader Hossam Harb, and Secretary General of the Progressive Socialist Party, Dhafer Nasser.
President Berri also received the Director General of Public Security, Major General Hassan Choucair, and the general situation was reviewed, especially the security situation and the political and field developments.
On the other hand, the Speaker of the House of Representatives cabled the President of the Iraqi Republic, Nizar Amidi, congratulating him on his election as President of the Republic, and the text of the cable stated:
