Speaker Berri received a call from the Speaker of the Iranian Shura Council, Muhammad Baqir Qalibaf, and he cabled congratulations to his Senegalese counterpart, and received the heads of the engineers’ unions in Beirut and the North, and Major General Muhammad Khair.
His Excellency the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Nabih Berri, received a call from the Speaker of the Shura Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Muhammad Baqir Qalibaf, during which they discussed developments in the situation in Lebanon in light of Israel’s escalation of its aggression, coupled with the policy of mass and forced displacement of the residents of the south and the southern suburbs of Beirut, and ways to stop the aggression.
Speaker Berri noted the positions and efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its insistence that stopping the war and aggression against Lebanon be a first and fundamental item in any agreement that ends the war and restores stability to the region.
President Berri also telegraphed his congratulations to the Speaker of the Senegalese Parliament, Ousmane Sonko, on the occasion of his election as Speaker of the Senegalese Parliament.
On another level, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Nabih Berri, received at the headquarters of the Second Presidency the Head of the Engineers Syndicate in Beirut, Fadi Hanna, and the Head of the Engineers Syndicate in Tripoli, Shawqi Fatfat, where the general situation and union affairs were reviewed.
Speaker Berri also received the former head of the Supreme Relief Commission, Major General Mohamed Khair.
