Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem announced the defeat of the Israeli-American project and the entry into a new phase, calling for action “on the basis of the new phase.” He said: “With the Karbalai stance of all our dear, proud people, we were able to stop this aggression. We were able to achieve a great achievement.”
Qassem added at the conclusion of the Ashura march: “We faced the war of eliminating the existence of Hezbollah, its environment, its people, and the citizens associated with it in Lebanon,” noting that “Israel is present in Lebanon because it wants to swallow it. Israel is present in Lebanon because it wants to occupy it on the path of Greater Israel.” The resistance only existed because of aggression and occupation.”
The memorandum of understanding is a defeat for America and Israel
He believed that the memorandum of understanding “is an official declaration of the defeat of America and Israel,” considering that Iran today “is creating the future not only for itself but for the region.” He said: “We cooperated with Iran during the period of aggression, confronted it together, and broke the project together. They wanted us to be isolated and dispersed, but we worked as a hub, and this is a natural right.”
He said: “Thank you to Iran, so that thanks can reach sick souls and bring them down with grief. Thank you Iran and we will stay with you. We want you by our side and we want to be united, because it has become clear that your strength with the strength of the resistance fighters in the field helps in finding the appropriate balance that takes us to the new stage, the stage of breaking the Israeli project in preparation for removing the Israeli entity from our land.
Qassem pointed to five pillars that “we believe in and call for,” which are: “First: Israel has no choice but to completely withdraw from every inch of our Lebanese land, and stop the aggression by air, land, sea, and in all forms. Its aggression has failed to achieve its expansionist goals, and this is a basic starting point on which to build. Israel must leave unconditionally, and any commitment against Lebanon’s sovereignty will not pass, and no one has the right to sign anything or accept anything. All solutions are limited to full sovereignty and full independence for Lebanon, no normalization, no abolition of the state of hostility, no gains for Israel, and no partial presence on Lebanese soil. “Israel must emerge humiliated and miserable, and this is what will happen.” He added: “We consider that the ceiling of sovereignty can be achieved by remaining within the framework of the results of the 11-27-2024 agreement, and exclusively on the basis of southern Lebanon, south of the Litani River, and not all of the south.”
The authority must stop implementing the enemy’s dictates
Qassem explained that the second basis is that “the resistance continues with its existence, presence, decisions, and capabilities, and it is now the pillar of Lebanon’s independence and liberation, and it will remain, and it is this people, and it is this land, and it is history, the present, and the future,” and the second is that the Lebanese authority cannot “hostile and quarrel with more than half of the Lebanese people and proceed normally.” The country is with its components, not its positions, and the officials are responsible for preserving the country. They are proud if they succeed, and the people will hold them accountable if they fail,” stressing that “the political authority must reconsider its path with two things: the first: gathering the word, uniting the ranks, and uniting the political position in confronting the Israeli enemy, stopping implementing the dictates of guardianship and the enemy, and making decisions that are in the interest of America and Israel. We are ready and we are extending our hand. Seize the opportunity. The resistance is strong and we are with you if you follow the path of Lebanese sovereignty. Second: The necessity of mobilizing determination to build the state in addressing the economic situation, depositors’ money, reconstruction, bridging the social gap, and doing everything that would address the issues we need in Lebanon. In the post-Israeli withdrawal phase, we will study together the comprehensive strategy for national security.”
Iran’s path to salvation
As for the fourth pillar, Qassem pointed to “the necessity of benefiting from the path of understanding between Iran and America as a fundamental supporter of Lebanon’s sovereignty with an exceptional force that God Almighty sent to us as a gift from heaven.” He asked: “You in Lebanon, what do you have to combat the aggression there?”, considering that it has been proven that “Iran is the path to salvation.”
Fifth, Qassem called for stopping “the hands of the Arab and foreign countries that are pressuring you to drag you into strife and reconciling with Israel or Israel’s interests,” and cooperating “to the maximum extent with the Arab and foreign countries who are helping Lebanon for its sovereignty and construction.” He added: “Tell them to translate this into practice, not for some countries to come and tell you to disarm so we can help you. This is Israel’s project. We want people who support us for our sovereignty, and not support Israel under the pretext of our sovereignty.” Therefore, we welcome the Arab and foreign countries that are working for reconstruction, restoring sovereignty, strengthening the Lebanese army, expelling Israel, and creating a strong lobby that prevents Israel from achieving its goals.”
Qassem saluted the people of Gaza and Palestine, and said: “O honorable, generous sacrificers, the world has wronged you, but the blood of your martyrs and the contributions of your people will remain the foundation of freedom, dignity, and liberation. We are with you. Palestine and the liberation of Palestine will remain the compass. We believe in its liberation alongside its people, and God willing, it will happen soon.”
He also saluted “the dear and sacrificing Yemeni people, the honorable leadership and the armed forces who stood when the world abandoned Palestine, Lebanon and the axis of resistance, despite all their difficulties and circumstances. These are honorable people and know where the truth is.” Likewise, “the Iraqi people are a reference, a mobilization, a leadership, a people, and a government, because they surrounded us with care and assistance, and because they were with us.”
