A group of Global Resilience Fleet activists accused Israeli forces of committing sexual assaults against fleet crew members.

The flotilla, carrying humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, set off from Barcelona on April 15. This is the fleet’s second initiative, after the September 2025 experience, which ended with a similar attack and the arrest of hundreds of international activists.
On April 29, activists reported that Israeli forces seized ships near the island of Crete, damaging their engines and navigation systems before retreating.
Last Saturday, the fleet called on the European Parliament to intervene following the arrest of “Israel” Saif Abu Kishk, a Spanish and Swedish citizen of Palestinian origin, and Thiago Avila, a Brazilian citizen.
In this context, the Spanish Foreign Minister, Jose Manuel Albarez, announced that the acting Israeli ambassador to Madrid, Dana Ehrlich, had been summoned twice for talks in light of Abu Kishek’s arrest.
The Spanish Foreign Minister said, during an emergency session in the local parliament, that she had been summoned to inform her that Madrid considered Abu Kishk’s continued detention “unacceptable.”
