The Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, once again defended Lamine Yamal, and stated that his solidarity with Palestine is a source of pride. This came after Yamal was subjected to a severe Israeli attack, especially by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, after he waved the Palestinian flag in the streets of Barcelona during the celebrations for crowning the league title.
Sanchez explained in a statement, “Those who consider raising a country’s flag an incitement to hatred have either lost their senses, or are blinded by their shame.” He added: “Lamine did nothing but express the solidarity with Palestine that millions of Spaniards feel.” He concluded by stressing that Yamal’s behavior is “an additional reason to be proud of him.”
