US President Donald Trump believed that he had the “absolute right” to reimpose customs duties, after the Supreme Court invalidated the tariffs he had approved.

He confirmed that he had begun doing so.

Trump considered that what Federal Judge James Boasberg did, in the Powell case, and in many other cases, had nothing to do with the law, and its reasons were political.

Trump repeatedly criticized Powell and insulted him over the central bank’s policies regarding setting the main interest rate.

In another context, Trump warned in an interview with the Financial Times that NATO may face a “very bad” future if it does not help US allies open the Strait of Hormuz.

He also warned that the upcoming summit in Beijing with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping from March 31 to April 2 might be postponed if Beijing does not help open the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump issued a call to several countries to send warships to help protect global oil supplies crossing the Strait of Hormuz, which have been almost halted since the outbreak of war, causing the prices of energy resources, especially oil, to rise to levels not seen in years.

Trump explained to reporters accompanying him on Air Force One that the United States is in talks with “about seven” countries to obtain assistance in reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

Regarding the Iranian-Israeli-American war, Trump announced holding talks with Iran, “but Tehran is not ready to conclude an agreement that will end the war.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had previously denied holding any talks with the United States.
