Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said that he agreed with US President Donald Trump in a phone call Thursday to continue coordination between the two sides on various fronts.
A statement from Netanyahu’s office said: “Within the framework of ongoing communications between Netanyahu and Trump, another conversation took place during which coordination between the two countries was strengthened in various fields.” The statement added that Trump briefed Netanyahu on “American movements in the Gulf.”
According to the statement, the Israeli Prime Minister stressed, during the conversation with the American President, the necessity of maintaining a security zone along the Israeli borders with Lebanon, Syria, and the Gaza Strip.
This comes as the United States struck again on Thursday, which responded by targeting countries in the region.
The American bombing led to the death of 17 people and the injury of 93 others in Iran since the renewal of hostilities the previous day, despite the memorandum of understanding concluded between the two parties to stop the conflict, according to the latest figures issued by the Ministry of Health.
The hostilities weaken the truce, which US President Donald Trump considered “over,” and he directed his anger at the Iranian leaders, describing them as “sick people” with whom he no longer wanted to “deal,” while at the same time keeping the door open for his negotiating team to continue the talks.
“This is retaliation for the strikes Iran launched against ships yesterday. If this happens again, it will get much worse!” Trump wrote on social media over a photo he posted showing what appeared to be the bombing of a site in Iran.
Washington accused the Iranian army of launching raids on Tuesday against at least three ships in the Strait of Hormuz, in which shipping traffic has slowed significantly since then, according to data from the Kpler maritime traffic tracking platform.
American military officials said that about 90 Iranian military targets were targeted in the recent strikes that targeted air defense systems, missile storage sites, and drones.
However, Iran accused the United States of targeting civilian infrastructure, including bridges and the railway line linking Tehran and Mashhad (northeast).
The strikes also affected the “surroundings” of the nuclear power plant in Bushehr Governorate (south), which had previously been hit by strikes during the war, according to an Iranian official.
