The Turkish Ministry of Transport announced on Tuesday that Türkiye and Saudi Arabia signed two memorandums of understanding to enhance cooperation in the railway and logistics sectors.
The agreement was signed in the presence of the Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics, Saleh Al-Jasser, and the Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Oglu.
Al-Jasser had confirmed last April that the study of the railway connection with Türkiye, passing through Jordan and Syria, would be completed before the end of this year.
The project is expected to enhance regional cooperation and support trade movement between countries in the region.
The Saudi railway network currently extends to the Jordanian border through the Haditha port, making it a strategic point towards expansion through rail connectivity.
