The Estimates Department at the Meteorological Service in Lebanon announced in the evening weather bulletin that Lebanon and the eastern Mediterranean basin are gradually being affected by a depression centered southwest of Turkey, accompanied by cold air masses, leading to volatile and sometimes rainy weather with a significant drop in temperatures, active winds reaching 80 km/h, and 1,800 meters of snow tomorrow, Monday, and its effect will continue until Tuesday evening, where it gradually stabilizes.
It warned of the risk of drowning due to high waves and sea currents on Sunday and Monday. She pointed out that the average temperature for the month of May in Beirut is between 18 and 27 degrees, Tripoli is between 15 and 25 degrees, and Zahle is between 13 and 27 degrees.
Expected weather in Lebanon:
Monday: Partly cloudy to cloudy with high clouds with the beginning of a drop in temperatures, especially inland and on the mountains, starting in the evening. Dense fog forms at medium heights, with the possibility of scattered drizzle falling in the interior areas and rain beginning to fall at night.
Tuesday: Mostly cloudy with a noticeable and sharp drop in temperatures, especially in the interior and on the mountains (a drop of 6 to 9 degrees). Heavy rain falls in the north and in the center until the evening, with chances of active thunderstorms forming and hailstones falling. The winds are active and their speed increases to 80 km/hour, with sea waves rising to 3 metres, fog forming on the highlands, and snow touching 1,800 metres, but without effective accumulations.
Wednesday: Partly cloudy to cloudy with a slight rise in temperatures. Scattered rain falls, easing in intensity in the afternoon. Some snow also falls, reaching an altitude of 2000 metres. The weather stabilizes in the evening.
Thursday: Few clouds with the beginning of a rise in temperatures and the return of stable spring weather.
