Israeli media revealed new details related to the raid that targeted the Choueifat-Amrousiya area near the southern suburb of Beirut, at a time when Israeli Channel 14 reported on the failure of the assassination attempt on Ali Al-Husseini, a leader in the Hezbollah missile unit.
The Israeli Channel 12 reported that the United States required Israel to inform it in advance before carrying out any assassination operations inside Lebanon, within the framework of the understandings related to the ceasefire and the controls established to prevent the expansion of the confrontation.
The channel added that Israel informed Washington that the assassination attempt carried out in Beirut falls within the “rules of the truce,” indicating that the operation is not considered, from the Israeli point of view, a direct violation of the existing understandings.
This afternoon, an Israeli raid targeted a residential apartment in the Five Wings area in Choueifat – Amrousieh, in the first targeting of its kind in this area since the ceasefire was announced, raising fears of the expansion of the escalation towards areas close to the capital, Beirut.
The raid led to the martyrdom of Mrs. Fatima Ali Wehbe and her infant daughter, Zahraa, amid a state of panic in the region, while Israeli army spokesman Avichai Adraee announced that the Israeli army “attacked precisely in the Beirut area,” without officially revealing the identity of the target.
These developments come in light of a remarkable escalation in the pace of Israeli operations inside Lebanon, coinciding with continued talk of indirect negotiations and international attempts to prevent the complete collapse of the ceasefire.
