MP Enaya Ezz El-Din called for immediate international intervention to put an end to the Israeli aggression and its ongoing violations

Since the day before yesterday, the Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Women and Children, MP Dr. Inaya Ezz El-Din, has held a series of contacts with the Head of the Mission of the Office of the United Nations Special Coordinator in Lebanon, Janine Hennis-Plasschaert, the Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator for the United Nations, Imran Riza, the Lebanese Minister of Culture, Ghassan Salama, and the Lebanese Ambassador to UNESCO, Hind Darwish, against the backdrop of the ongoing Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon, especially the dangerous escalation targeting the city of Tire and its surrounding areas.

During these communications, Ezz El-Din called for urgent action and intensified efforts with international organizations and concerned parties to put pressure on “Israel” in order to stop its continuing aggression against Lebanon, especially after the recent escalation and the expansion of the circle of threats to include additional southern cities and towns.

She stressed the importance of raising international awareness regarding Israel’s repeated violations of international humanitarian law and international agreements, especially those prohibiting the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure, forced displacement, and intimidation of the civilian population.

Ezz El-Din also highlighted the serious dangers facing the city of Tyre, which is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and which currently includes 17 shelter centers housing thousands of displaced people in addition to its residents. It warned of the serious humanitarian and cultural repercussions of any attack that might affect the city and its historical heritage.

Discussions also touched on the rapid deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the south, the increasing pressure on health and emergency services, and the urgent need to ensure continued humanitarian access and protection for civilians.

Ezz El-Din called for immediate international intervention to put an end to the Israeli aggression and its ongoing violations, stressing that protecting civilians and cultural heritage must remain a priority. It was agreed to continue close coordination and continue consultations to follow up on the efforts made in this framework.
