Art deco discount 1930s carved bakelite floral bar brooch

A beautiful carved bakelite brooch. A lovely, large piece; a beautiful example of classic carved Art Deco bakelite.

Discovered in 1907 by Belgian chemist Leo Baekeland, bakelite was the first fully synthetic plastic and became hugely popular in the following decades in jewellery for its bright colours, accessibility, and ability to be carved with beautiful designs.

This piece measures approx. 7.7cm long by 2.1cm at its widest point.
