Golden Khokhloma "Flora" Ginger Jar

This Golden Khokhloma "Flora" Ginger Jar is made of the finest quality Russian Khokhloma lacquerware. It is handcrafted today in discount the same 300-year old tradition created by the early icon makers to give each piece the illusion of gold. The process includes six steps: (1) the linden wood is shaped; (2) painted with a clay primer and baked; (3) rubbed with oil and air-dried; (4) rolled in powdered aluminum and baked (years ago they used tin); (5) the artwork pattern is painted; (6) 3 coats of hot lacquer are applied, and any of the pattern left silver by the artist will turn to the beautiful golden color.

This elegant "Flora" Ginger Jar sings of the soul of the artist. Delicately hand-painted, it is reminiscent of "Old Russia." A dramatic accent piece and a great addition to your art collection.
