Hippie culture grew out of the counter cultural, anti-war movements of the early 1960s. It reached its peak in 1967 with the Summer Of Love festival in San Francisco. Though the popularity of the hippie movement declined in the 1970s, many of the things the hippie movement stood for have outlived – in various forms – the movement they were born from.

Modern day anti-war movements, ecological green earth movements, bohemian artistic cultures as well as personal development & wellbeing movements all owe a debt to the happy hippies of the mid-twentieth century!
