Admired for its sarcastic depiction of the racism exhibited in the American South of this time period.
There are many detailed engraved illustrations by Edward W. Kemble.

I'm sorry to say that the cover is detached in the front and discount at the spine while barely holding on in the back.
The pages are separating from the binding and some (especially in the front) are completely so.

Still, it is the real deal and when holding it one wonders about all the other hands which held this, eyes which read this, and minds which were opened by reading this important cultural work.

Book restoration may be a possibility if you wanted to go that route. ( You would have to find a professional.)
