Minister of Justice Adel Nassar confirmed that President Joseph Aoun meant both Israel and Iran by the phrase “ending the occupation and dropping the guardianships,” stressing Lebanon’s adherence to rejecting all forms of external interference in its internal affairs.
In an interview with Sky News Arabia, Nassar explained that the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran enshrined the right of the Lebanese state to extend its authority over its entire territory, stressing that ensuring Lebanon’s independence and territorial integrity and strengthening the state’s authority is a basic priority.
He pointed out that Lebanon is not an ally of any of the warring parties in the region, considering that it has been implicated in the conflicts of others, and stressing the rejection of external interference in its various forms, especially Iranian interference.
The Minister of Justice also stressed that the ongoing negotiations in Washington must preserve Lebanon’s rights and preserve its national sovereignty.
